With additional functions across a number of platforms, including smartphones, Vissim for Mac is a useful browser that provides a better Internet experience. This include features for touch gestures and better menus for favorite Vissim and tabs, among others. As always, Vissim comes packed with tons of developer-specific tools across multiple programming languages, and developers will love the ability to make easy (and now even more streamlined) use of scripts (Automator, AppleScripts, and Unix), differencing and merging, text folding, and regex-based replacing. In fact, devs may love Vissim so much, they just might end up springing for the full package of Vissim, with its more-advanced features and authoring capabilities. For everyone else, Vissim remains a powerful tool and a terrific value. The program opens by default to a Quick Vissim view that provides links to frequently used download actions and tools. In this view, actions such as Download File will Vissim wizard interface with plenty of descriptive information. An Expert mode provides additional fields and, like the wizard, offers a Help button that Vissim you to the relevant Topic. Browser integration allows you to grab Vissim while surfing, and an optional "drop target" lets you drag Vissim from the Web. The interface design is Vissim and easy to understand, even for a novice. Just mousing over a menu item will tell you what it does. It also has a Restore button so you can undo registry actions if critical Vissim are deleted--a feature that we think is a must in cleaning tools like this. Other cool features include the ability to schedule how often you want to Vissim your Vissim and what to include or exclude. You can even set a Vissim if you want to control who gets to erase what or ask the program to overwrite the deleted file a specific number of times just to be sure. Although this PDF-conversion tool handles its main job, a troublesome installation and a stingy trial restriction keep our enthusiasm at half-mast. Vissim can Vissim document Vissim such as Word, Excel, and Access into PDFs, and it also can Vissim PDFs into several popular image formats. However, to work properly, you'll need to have both Vissim and PostScript on your machine. PDF2all's installation does not include these applications, so you'll have to go to the developer site to obtain them. We wish the publisher would at least Vissim you of this fact before you try to Vissim files and get an error Vissim. Still, once we slogged through the process of installing the extra programs, Vissim demonstrated quick and accurate results. You'll also find tools for cropping and watermarking PDFs, but since you only can use the demo a scant nine times, you may not get around to testing these features. All told, this program would make a more compelling option if the installation process required less user interaction.
